Where do they come from?

Beaker & Wrench was formed in October of 2016. It happened organically, you could say. Lilibel was working at BAS Research as the oil refinement chemist. Ace was the Senior Mechanical Engineer at Radicand. I had been cranking out distillate as best I could for the past few months, but I had a big problem that needed solving. The gravity feed on the wiped-film evaporator would clog due to the viscosity of the fluid. Even with the heating jacket on, the fluid would suffer from uneven heating and still gum up. This was especially a problem when a distillation was set to run overnight, and I’d come in the next day to find it had stopped, with 1700ml still waiting to be put through. Clearly this was wasting time and money, since I couldn’t start my next distillation. After shedding tears of terpenes and crying out to the cannabis gods, Ace looked at my machine and said, “I can fix this.” Ace designed the Dosing Pump, and it worked like a dream. A month later, I had increased output from 9,000g per month to 24,000g per month. The pump never failed and months later its still going strong. During this time, Ace and I discovered that we had a really great working energy. We talked about extraction all the time! Thermodynamics was always a topic for us but now it was really centered on how it worked on cannabis. One day while we were walking through the neighborhood eating pizza, Ace said, “Do you wanna start a business together?” I said “Yes!” and we kept talking about it. Our name came about purely by serendipity. Ace owns a shirt with a wrench resting in a beaker, to which I made the comment, “Hey look, it’s a beaker and a wrench, just like us!” Thus was Beaker & Wrench born, and our story began.
